Prior to the procedure, our surgeon meets with patients personally to evaluate their initial conditions, as well as understand their aesthetic concerns and goals for the procedure. Next, he creates a customized treatment plan and thoroughly explains the procedure to patients. He also gives patients a list of instructions to prepare themselves for the procedure. To achieve the best results, our surgeon recommends patients undergo two to five Photoderm treatments.

Our surgeon begins the procedure by first applying a cold gel to protect patients' skin. Then, he administers intense pulsated light therapy (IPL) to the treatment area, which reduces pigmentation. The procedure may last up to 30 minutes, depending on the amount of area treated. Following the procedure, our surgeon may recommend patients apply a moisturizer and/or aloe vera topical treatment to keep the skin hydrated.

Photoderm is a non-invasive procedure that is relatively painless and allows patients to achieve great results for veins smaller than 5 mm in diameter. Many patients are able to improve the appearance of facial or leg veins within two to five visits. Our surgeon recommends patients space their visits four to eight weeks apart to achieve optimal results.

Photoderm VL/PL/HR is a versatile, intense pulsed light source that produces wavelengths capable of treating a broad variety of conditions, including:

Photoderm treatments consist of short bursts of very bright light directly to the skin.
